Précis is a lexical editor for C and C++ source files. The lexical basis is used in selection and provides outline viewing using the {..} structure of the file, token based searches that ignore whitespace (comments, newlines, spaces, tabs), automatic comment alignment, and more. A configuration language provides extensive control of display and print formatting, editor options, and language dialects. Functions consisting of one or more Précis operations may be created and assigned to key combinations. Précis has multilevel Undo/Redo, and file comparison capabilities. Window panes and multiple windows on the same file are supported. Précis will operate stand alone or with the Think C development environment. Documentation is provided through a Help system.
This demonstration version is full featured, but has a 15 day (extendible) license period. An order form is available under the Apple menu to order the regular release version.
Requirements
------------
CPU: 68020/68030/68040 Macintosh. A native Power Mac version is not currently available, and this version has not been tested in emulation mode.
Display: A color display is strongly recommended but not mandatory.
Operating System: 7.0 or later
Memory: 2MB partition recommended, 1MB minimum. Précis will use more memory than most editors, and your usage may require more than 2MB.
Disk: Approx. 1.2MB
Installation
-----------
The only requirement is that the application file “Acuity Précis” and the help file “Précis Help” be installed in the same directory. The files Default.pcl and Sample.pcl are demonstration configuration files and are not used unless you specify them.
You will be asked to agree to the demonstration license the first time you use the program. The text of the license is also included with this distribution.
Once started, review the topics under the “Getting Started” section of the Help Contents. Help may be invoked with the help key, the help menu, or from the About Précis dialog. Examining the file Sample.pcl is a good way to become familiar with the configuration language.
